okay I was just about to start working on some sketches, and thought I'd gather some quick google images for inspiration on the kind of village. Tell me if you have a similar idea in mind.
-Grey-ish brown buildings, made from planks of wood. Resembles an old western town in a way.
-Cobblestone streets similar to old europe.
-bright tapestries and colors to balance out dull buildings. (Spanish-esque?)
-the bright colors of the sky would also balance out the buildings.
Old Western Towns:
Cobblestones:
Spanish Patterns/Fabric:
I like those images a lot, especially as far as composition goes. The only thing about them being western is that we might be presenting a confused environment. If the gypsies are Spanish, we could probably still use the wooden buildings, but we'd have to make sure to stay FAR away from any clues that will give the scene a distinctly western look.
ReplyDeleteThe cobblestones are a BIG yes! Like you said the other day, those would be a really great place for water to collect.
Also, the fabrics- beautiful colors! Those would be a really awesome way to bring color into the environment.
Great research!
